Social Benefit Bond to reduce recidivism - 21 March 2012

The GEO Group Australia has been selected by the NSW Government to help develop and deliver Australia's first Social Benefit Bond. Working with Mission Australia and Social Finance, GEO will provide services to reduce recidivism. The pilot program will be funded through a Social Benefit Bond, which seeks private investors to fund public services to address social problems. In this ABC News report Social Finance chief executive Nigel Cowan outlines how a Social Benefit Bond works and the benefits for the government and the community.
